Ed) have incurred the wrath of America's dreaded Moral Majority, who've managed to block the release of the "Eternal Nightmare" LP over there. And now an angry parent from Shepherd's Bush has had enough, too, roping in Mary Whitehouse and rent -a-rant MP Geoffrey Dickens in a campaign to annihilate the band because of the violent imagery of their lyrics. An enterprising New Yorker is cashing in on his similarity to The Cure's Simon Gallup by convincing gullible girly fans of the band to give him loadsadollars. The imposter arranges the "loans" on the understanding that The Cure's manager is about to send him a fat cheque from London. Needless to say the dosh never arrives and, stolen cash in gloved hand, the mean mimic is never seen again. Understandly the REAL Mr Gallup, resting up in London between albums, is mightily perplexed and has put the cops on the case. "It's not really cricket at all, is it?" he (under) stated. TTD dashed over to Paris for the final Purple Pain show, having already sent the great man a gift - a rare, customised Fender Telecaster guitar. Mr D'Arby was delighted when Prince brought the guitar on stage during the show - "How come it never sounded that good when I played it," TTD laughed - and was ECSTATIC when Prince ad-libbed bits of "If You Let Me Stay" and "Wishing Well" into an extended jam. Prince and TTD chatted away for hours afterwards, apparently firm friends... BSVs Index 540 Letters 542 Letters USA News Record Reviews Buzz
