There's a practice match this Saturday: draw 8am at Stonebridge Locks Car Park. All comers welcome. Norfolk: Bream and roach feeding well on the Bure down to Acle. Tidal Yare is starting to run into top form for good roach on the feeder. P535 ORACLE 535 Sun 7 Aug S4C 2000:00  10/10     NEWS   WATER REPORTS Bewl Water reports a further rise in the rod average, as fish continue to take a wide range of flies including Hares Ear, Green, Damsel and Pheasant Tail Nymphs, Invicta and Viva. Last week's Rod Number was 612 with the rod average 2.34 fish per rod. The reservoir remains weed free and most areas are accessible without much mud. Kingfisher Farm, in Bucks, report that for the week ending July 31, 98 rods took 195 fish, the best being a ten pounder caught by A. Edgecombe of Amers——m. South Wales: The last in the series of the Roath Park Angling Series was a tie between Colin Cook and Ken Hornby who took 2-9-0 of roach on the waggler. Mike Cowler completed the frame with 2.4.0. Individual Champ by three points was in -form international, Colin Cook. Ken Hornby was runner up. Wales take on Northern Ireland on Sat, and are competing in the Home Nationals on Sunday. The Avon is also in good trim. Lots of small fish are showing on the middle reaches at Eves——l. Still waters poor but should improve if weather stays settled; Maggot is best! Teams practising for the Severn National are finding it best not to rely on barbel. North East: There should be some very good catches this weekend for river anglers. The Aire is producing big weights and is in tip top condition. The Ouse at York is turning up plenty of small fish. Beningborough is this weekend's top venue! Problems on still waters in the area, with carp suffering from a mystery disease. And tench have been lost at Boe Park Reservoir. The upper river from Burton to Shardlow should be a barbel hotspot. Big fish here to feeder or float. Middle reaches are best at Clifton, Scunthorpe Bridge and East Bridgeford for chub and barbel Big bream showing at Holme Marsh on the Weir Field to the feeder. Tidal river at Tolling——n and Dunham Gravels is fishing well for big roach. Expect good mullet to show this weekend on the Tidal Exe and reasonable catches of dace to the stick float. These troubles are over the Irish Government's decision to impose rod licences for coarse and trout fishing. Until now, a licence has only been needed for salmon fishing in Irish waters. The new charges - £10 for an annual coarse fishing licence and £15 for a trout licence - have so incensed Irish professional fishermen that they have closed the rivers and lakes. It has released cage-reared salmon into Barn Elms Reservoir - a popular day ticket venue in West London - in an attempt to see if the fish will thrive in a totally land- locked environment. The fish are the result of T——lfs Water's experiments with releasing salmon smolts into the T——lds to generate a wild run of salmon.
