City bombing claimed thousands of German lives, as in the bombing of Dresden in Feb 1945. With hindsight, some argue it was an unnecessary tactic as the Nazis were on the retreat. However at the time the Nazis were still putting up a fight. ——————————————————————————————————7/8—— Channel 4 News 425 For all the seasonal fun in your area go to our Christmas event guide p345 Medicis TV today 4 Homes Index

A final thought — 55,570 airmen never made it back home.
