Alan Bristow invented the beds to boost comfort, improve hygiene and reduce the risk of injury to livestock. The inventor, also behind Bristow helicopters, said: "It's quite a surprise." But he was sceptical about the benefit to business. It's a tenth of the weight of a standard polo, but is nearly four times as strong on peppermint flavour.
