"However, the forests in Scandinavia have been heavily exploited for the timber industry," says Neil Verlander from Friends of the Earth. "Much of the natural snowforest has been clear-cut and replaced with artificial planted factory forests. "If forests, their biodiversity and the range of other services they provide are to survive, global consumption of wood needs to be reduced," says Neil Verlander from Friends of the Earth. Reduce, re-use and recycle, says conservation expert, Neil Verlander. "Avoid using throw-away paper products like cups and plates when you can find re-usable alternatives. Use both sides of each sheet of paper. "Collect used wood and paper and recycle it. If your council doesn't have a recycling scheme, urge them to set one up.
