"We were really happy with the way the album was received" Brett told Grooves. "I heard about one negative review, but I didn't read it. It doesn't bother me" Brett has every right to be confident. The new-look Suede are certainly a tight team, and the ghost of Bernard Butler soon becomes a distant memory. ——————————————————————————————————1/4—— More from last night's Suede show >>> SINGLES SLAGGED & SALUTED p444 Charts Tour Dates Gigs Digitiser

Richard Oakes (with new bobbed hairdo!) thrashes about with abandon while Brett bounces enthusiastically during the obvious crowd-pleaser Animal Nitrate. "This is an old one," deadpans Brett, an underwhelming introduction for one of the decade's finest singles so far. ——————————————————————————————————2/4—— More from last night's Suede concert >> JARVIS AT THE SUEDE GIG: NEWS p621 Charts Tour Dates Gigs Digitiser

Angelic of voice and visage, the cool keyboardist is fast becoming the band's focal point, but it won't be a case of cheekbones at dawn with the singer. "I've been getting a lot of fan mail, but Brett will always be the centre of attention," said Neil, giving Grooves a scarily accurate Ron Mael impersonation ——————————————————————————————————3/4—— More from last night's Suede show >>> SINGLES SLAGGED & SALUTED p444 Charts Tour Dates Gigs Digitiser
