Diabetes affects as many as 2% of the population yet no cause has been found. About 25% of diabetics depend on insulin to survive. Research suggests milk may trigger the immune system to attack insulin-producing cells. ——————————————————————————————————1/4—— By Dr Roy Macgregor WATCH & WIN UP TO £25,000 WITH CADBURY'S & CORONATION ST. Exposing a baby to cows' milk in very early life appears to alert the immune system in a way that may lead to the body's own defence system knocking out the important insulin-producing cells. This may be one reason diabetes develops. Other factors include genes and obesity. ——————————————————————————————————2/4—— By Dr Roy Macgregor WATCH & WIN UP TO £25,000 WITH CADBURY'S & CORONATION ST. P385 (ITV) Angling Gardening Light Kids

This is not a reason  for witholding cows' milk from children over a year old. It does support current health visitor and doctor advice to introduce cows' milk at about one year for most babies. As understanding of the immune system increases, so more evidence accumulates suggesting early infant feeding has a significant effect in later life. ——————————————————————————————————3/4—— By Dr Roy Macgregor GO GREEN FOR A BETTER WORLD p460 Angling Gardening Light Kids
