Last year, at the local town hall, we had Marti Webb and Mark Rattray in The Magic of the Musicals - it was great. This year, we've enjoyed Hollywood and Broadway with Wayne Sleep, as versatile as ever, and Lorna Luft proving her worth as Judy's daughter and Lisa's sister. Each show has been of the highest standard, despite hectic schedules. Tudor Williams, Cheltenham, Glos. more > Reviews Index 620 Review News 621 Beat Box Your Money User Guide Adverts

I have to say I've never heard of anything so preposterous in my life. How can someone have the gall to write a sequel to one of the greatest novels of the 20th Century - Dr Zhivago? How absurd. The whole idea is just one big marketing con, yet another ruse to line publishers' already bulging pockets. I popped out to see Cape Fear recently (good film) and was subjected to a barrage of dismal advertising that had me wishing I'd stayed at home to nod off in front of the telly. I remember a time when you would just get a trailer for the next presentation (fair enough), a couple of daft ads and a plea to buy an ice-cream. These days, it's the big sell. I only want to see a film, and resent being bombarded by the advertisers. Alistair Ogilvie, Herne Hill, London more > Reviews Index 620 Review News 621 Beat Box Your Money User Guide Adverts
