The group of three birds, possibly a family party, were flying eastwards. Their flight direction suggests that the birds had overshot their usual migratory route - from Scandinavia to Spain - and were attempting to reach the bulk of their population, now at a migratory staging post in northern France. Numbers will continue to rise, reaching a peak in the New Year. Species to look out for around estuaries are Wigeon and Pintail, which come mainly from around the Baltic, and Brent Geese. He is co-author of Vietnam's National Conservational Strategy - an acclaimed programme mobilising the country to plant 500 million trees per year. The chequered skipper benefitted from the good weather in SpringN In contrast the Scotch argus appears to have ignored the lack of autumn sunshine but continued to thrive.
