The destroyer HMS York was accompanying two Hong Kong-owned ships, registered in Panama and Liberia, near Sharjah today when it exchanged radio messages with an approaching Iranian warship. Mr Robertson said he had written to the foreign secretary to ask him to clarify the rules governing Royal Navy ships.
