Nevertheless, Francois Doumen's chaser possesses plenty of talent and is bound to run a good race, although he is likely to find one or two too good. Barton Bank would be going for a hat- trick in this race but for his jumping, something which often lets him down. David Nicholson's chaser will find his fencing tested to the limit in what looks a vintage renewal and he looks a risky proposition at short odds.  Timeform Box Decs1 Duke Comp Nicholson

Kim Bailey's chaser was supremely impressive on his debut last season but he has had his problems since and, promising as he is, this occasion will probably prove too much for him. Brief Gale was a cracking novice last season and the Sun Alliance winner is making her seasonal bow at Sunbury. More rain will suit Josh Gifford's mare but like Book Of Music she is untested against seasoned chasers and Cheltenham in March will suit her better.  Timeform Box Decs1 Duke Comp Nicholson

Oliver Sherwood's charge is unproven at this distance and has yet to show he can rub shoulders with the very best. Others hold more appeal. Dublin Flyer was a tremendously brave winner of the Mackeson and is sure to give Brendan Powell an exciting ride over the imposing Kempton fences. However, Tim Forster's charge, good handicapper that he is, has yet to show form as good as a number of his rivals and may find himself out of his depth.  Timeform Box Decs1 Duke Comp Nicholson

Jenny Pitman's chaser is far from certain to stay three miles, especially on soft going, and seems to have the odds stacked against him here. Merry Gale looks sure to be there at the finish and the Irish raider has plenty of factors in his favour. A sound jumper who goes on virtually any going, this tight three mile track will suit. He is proven in this class and whatever beats him will win. Football 302 General 320 Cricket 340 Timeform Box Decs1 Duke Comp Nicholson

One Man easily outpointed him at Haydock last time out and he appears to have it all to do here. One Man is the ante-post favourite for the race based on two easy victories this season at Ayr and Haydock. Gordon Richards' star looks the part but doubts remain over his jumping, he fell here earlier in the year, and he has yet to face opposition as good as this. Looks poor value at present.
